In the United States, Cancer is the second leading cause of death. If all the years of cancer research had been as effective as claimed and if all the so-called medical breakthroughs had been real, obviously fewer and fewer people would get and die of cancer instead of more and more. Every one knows at least one or more people that have died of cancer! Or, they are battling it themselves.
In 1971 President Richard Nixon declared "war against cancer." A cure was widely expected in five to 10 years. Today instead of a cancer cure we have a cancer epidemic. Cancer now kills more Canadians and Americans in a single year than all of World War II did. In fact, more than twice as many people get and die of cancer today than was the case in the early seventies. Cancer rates in Canada and the US have increased far beyond population growth. The latest statistics show that about 40 per cent of Canadians and Americans get cancer and most of them die of it.
Countless millions of dollars have been spent worldwide on cancer research (More than $30 billion in the US alone). In the meantime, our environment is becoming more and more carcinogenic. The air we breathe, the water we drink and the foods we eat are increasingly exposing us to cancer-causing agents.
According to the World Health Organization at least 80 per cent of all cancer is environmentally caused and therefore preventable. Yet cancer organizations, research institutions, governments and corporations direct most of their funds at treatment, instead of prevention. And the Treatment often causes more misery than the disease itself and in many cases it is unsuccessful. Most treatments boil down to cut it out, radiate it or chemo! None of which are pleasant to even think of much less endure!
Today on Alternative Health I am endeavoring to bring you a cancer prevention plan you can put into action every day that may save your life. Do you know any one with cancer or that has had cancer?
Well, as they say, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure! First, let’s talk diet – what is on the fork that may be hurting or helping us? A few years ago I wrote a diet for Dr. Gus Kotsanis. He requested this because he typically got the patients that had been given up on. Basically the walking dead! He used alternative as well as traditional medicine and knew he had to have a diet his patients could live with! The great thing is, it’s not just for cancer patients, it’s for anyone who wants to eat healthy.
Recommendations for breakfast –
Millet Cereal, Boiled eggs, Oats, Oat bran, Amaranth, Yogurt Smoothies with Creations Bounty, any fresh fruit especially all berries, as well as Granny Smith Apples, Concord grapes. (Berries protect from DNA damage)
Lunch – Any yellow and deep-orange vegetables, such as; carrots, pumpkin, squash, and yams. Brazil nuts, cantaloupes, plums, cherries, grapes, legumes. Including chickpeas, lentils and red beans.
Cook all sprouts slightly, except for alfalfa which should be eaten raw.
Eat as much garlic (except with liver issues) eat onions as much as possible as well as taking supplements.
Eat at least ten almonds daily. They contain laetrile, which has anticancer properties.
Drink beet juice, (roots and greens), carrot juice, fresh cabbage juice, and asparagus juice often. Grape, black cherry, and all dark-colored juices are good, as are black currants. Fresh apple juice.
Drink only steam distilled water, which will raise the pH level. Acid breeds disease!
Snack suggestions - Now, remember when we talk snacks, Absolutely no processed sugar! White sugar is like throwing fuel on a fire! Snacks should be things like -
Cashew or almond butter with raw honey or molasses on spelt bread.
Raw vegetables, fruit, or grains. Kefir, or yogurt. Frozen bananas or grapes, (all grapes and apples are excellent, grapes should have seeds, the darker the color the better. All fruit and vegetables should be washed with food grade hydrogen peroxide). A great sandwich is spelt bread toasted with almond butter, spinach leaves and sliced radishes, it’s quite tasty.
Dinner suggestions –
Brown rice, steamed vegetables, salads. Homemade soups. Cous Cous,
all nuts except peanuts. Baked sweet potatoes with Cinnamon and nutmeg are a delight. Vegetarian burger, vegetarian chicken pâté or pacific Salmon.
Do Not consume any peanuts or peanut products, junk foods, processed refined foods, saturated fats, table salt, sugar, white or bleached flour. Instead use sea salt, kelp, or a potassium substitute. Black strap molasses or pure maple syrup. For breads, use amaranth or spelt flour.
No animal protein of any kind, lunch meats, hot dogs, or smoked or cured meats. These typically contain more than their share of preservatives with known carcinogens. Use glass cookware and wooden cooking utensils. And avoid microwave ovens.
Now, often you will hear me use the word “Carcinogen” and you may be saying, what in the world is that??? Let’s talk Carcinogens – Well, according to Webster’s a Carcinogen is a substance or agent producing or inciting cancer! And according to Otto Warburg a famed PhD, that won a Nobel prize in the late 40’s for his study of carcinogens, says a carcinogen is anything that lacks oxygen!
Think about that one, synthetic chemicals, drugs and foods typically do not contain oxygen! But guess what, living foods do…Remember, we were put in a garden at the beginning of time, not a lab!
According to the National Institute for Cancer – by simply eating 5 fresh fruits and veggies a day, you can cut your risk of cancer by 30%. By eating a half cup of oat bran a day, you can cut your risk of cancer by another 30% says Dr. Cooper of the Cooper Institute. You know you can’t go wrong keeping those bowels clean. And by taking Selenium on a daily basis you can cut your risk of cancer by another 50%, let’s see 30, 30 and 50, Hey, that adds up to 110% All right you may be asking what is Selenium???
FACTOID: Avoid chemicals in such products as hair spray, cleaning compounds, waxes, fresh paints, and garden pesticides. Do not use any products with aerosol cans, these usually have known carcinogens.
Well, what in the world is Selenium??? Selenium is a trace mineral that used to be found in the food chain in ample amounts! While we should eat those foods that contain trace amounts of Selenium, the facts is that this trace mineral is one I don’t want to be without due to the multitude of uses in the human body.
Selenium can be found in foods like - Wheat Germ, Whole Grain Bread, Wheat Bran, Barley, Eggs, Mushrooms, Astragalus, Bilberry, Echinacea, Feverfew, Hawthorn, Pau D’Arco, Sarsaparilla, Stevia, (sweeten your tea and attack cancer) I love it! Legumes, Rabbit, Chicken, Brazil Nuts, gotta have em, these little babies are so high in selenium, one Brazil nut depending on where it’s grown can contain 50-100 mcg of Selenium… Herring, Tuna, Asparagus, Cabbage, Celery, Garlic, Onions, Potatoes, Radishes, Tomatoes and Brewer's Yeast!
Now, I am so passionate about Selenium I have to give you more info! If there is one supplement you should take, it’s Selenium!
Let’s recap here just a sec before we go on – by eating 5 fresh fruits and veggies a day you can cut your risk of cancer by 30%, by eating half cup of oat bran a day you can cut your risk of cancer by another 30% and by taking 200 mcg of Selenium you can cut your risk of cancer by 50%. That’s 110%. Now, more about Selenium!
Selenium is a powerful free radical scavenger and Aids in protein Digestion. When taken with Vitamin E, they work synergistically to aid in the production of antibodies and to help maintain a healthy heart and liver. Selenium and MSM also work great together due to its natural sulfur content and it helps keep you out of pain!
Selenium deficiency has been linked to cancer and heart disease.
As well as other ailments such as: Exhaustion, Growth impairment in children, High cholesterol, Infections, Liver impairment, Pancreatic insufficiency, Sterility
The suggested daily usage as a prevention is 200 mcg. If you have a family history of cancer, it is suggested that you take 400 mcg. That would be 200 mcg 2 X per day and if you have cancer or have had cancer – you would take 200 mcg 4 times per day!
One UCLA study done on breast cancer showed that up to 86% of women that got breast cancer would have a reoccurrence, but by taking selenium you could cut that risk down to 10%. That’s a 76% difference!
I tell you I am so sold on Selenium that I take it every day and when I eat sugar since I know sugar feeds cancer cells, I take extra selenium since I know selenium attacks those cancer cells. I try and counteract my minimal indulgences!
