Whey Protein

I absolutely love being outside. Do you? Walking, running, exercising…or just relaxing! Whatever! I don’t understand why so many people don’t get out and enjoy nature. Look at this ocean! Is it beautiful or what??? Come on…take a break from all the stress you’re under and take a walk outside. I guarantee you feel better!

Today on Alternative Health I’m going to let you in on a well-kept secret… Guess what contains powerful antioxidants, can improve athletic performance, reduces the risk of colon cancer and boosts the immune system? What if I went further and said this may also reduce your appetite and helps alleviate pain?

Have you ever been on a diet? There’s a ton of them…from the grapefruit diet to the cabbage diet, the low Carb diet, the Carb only diet and so on…and they just keep on coming up with another diet for you to try don’t they?

Here’s a secret… it’s not only what you eat and how much you eat; it’s not just the combination of exercise and proper sleep…it’s all of it! The proper combination is the key. In your eating, the right combination of foods is what your body is craving. We’ve discussed this before...you need fat in your diet….you need carbs…you just need the right combination!

So do you want to know what the mystery substance I was talking about earlier? Okay…here it is: Whey Protein!

What is whey protein? Whey Protein is the Protein and Amino Acid components extracted from Whey. Whey Protein possesses the highest biological value of all known Foods.

Speaking of exercise…did you know whey protein may actually increase stamina and athletic performance? In fact there was a scientific study conducted in 1999 that is reported in the Journal of Applied Physiology that showed where 18 subjects (9 Immunocal, 9 placebo) were analyzed. Both peak power and work capacity increased significantly in the Immunocal group, with no change in the placebo group. Lymphocyte glutathione also increased significantly in the Immunocal group), with no change in the placebo group. This is the first study to demonstrate that prolonged supplementation with a product designed to augment antioxidant defenses resulted in improved volitional performance.

WOW…! Did you hear what I said? Not only does whey protein increase muscular performance but Whey Protein also possesses Antioxidant properties (due to the Lactoferrin and Lactoperoxidase content).

Whey Protein also inhibits the ability of Iron to generate Free Radicals in the body (due to the Lactoferrin and Lactoperoxidase content of Whey Protein).

Listen, I’m only beginning! There are so many more benefits to supplementing with whey protein than just athletic performance! When I come back I’m going to take you on a journey through your immune system and show you how whey protein will make a difference you can see and feel!

Well…are you ready for an immune system booster? Guess what can do that for you? You’re right! Whey protein!

Studies show Whey Protein may enhance the ability of Antibodies to counteract the Antigens that cause Bacterial & Viral Diseases!

This study conducted on mice demonstrated that whey protein can support antibody responses - young mice fed a diet of whey protein experienced greater antibody-based resistance to pneumonia infection. Did you get that? PNEUMONIA!

Whey Protein may increase the body’s resistance to some types of Detrimental Bacteria including:
Helicobacter pylori
Salmonella
Streptococcus pneumoniae

What about cancer? Well…20 - 30 grams per day of Whey Protein may counteract the ability of Hydrazines and some other carcinogens that initiate Cancer and may cause the regression of tumors in some Cancer patients.

Whey Protein (30 grams per day) may inhibit the growth of Breast Cancer cells and may cause the regression of some existing Breast Cancer tumors.

And….Whey Protein may reduce the risk of Colon Cancer.

How’s that for a powerful addition to your diet!!!!

And speaking of your diet… whey is shown to reduce the Appetite by stimulating the production/release of Cholecystokinin.

Wait...there’s more! Whey Protein may alleviate many of the symptoms of Chronic Obstructory Pulmonary Disease primarily due to the Cysteine content of Whey Protein contributing to additional Glutathione production.

And for your skin…Whey Protein may accelerate the healing of Wounds.

Are ya getting excited yet about all the benefits of whey protein yet? Don’t go away I’ll be back to discuss more of the incredible power of whey protein right after this!

I need to stop right here and mention another benefit of whey protein to a commonly experienced health problem: STRESS. Whey Protein may actually counteract some of the negative effects associated with Excessive Stress which often causes Serotonin depletion in the brain and as you have heard me say before…this depletion of Serotonin is one of the causes of the cognitive impairment experienced during Stress.

So… how much whey protein should you take everyday?
If you are healthy and want to continue to enjoy the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, then 20 grams a day is recommended.
Cancer patients should take anywhere from 30 to 60 grams a day depending on your individual case. And if you’re a bodybuilder or an athlete with a highly active lifestyle then up to 80 grams a day is recommended. As always you should consult your qualified healthcare provider for proper dosages.

Whey also contains approximately 24% Branched-Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs, i.e. Isoleucine, Leucine and Valine) - this is the highest concentration of BCAAs of any single Protein!

Also… Conjugated Linoleic Acid

Simply said…whey protein is a great source with life extension potential. No matter if your sick, overweight or healthy and you want to stay healthy… Whey protein is what you need!
