It’s the leading cause of morbidity and mortality among adults in the USA. An amazing number of people are experiencing it each year. And in 33% it’s fatal. It usually occurs between the hours of 4:00 AM and 10:00 AM and often on an airplane or right after a flight! Are you at risk? Find out on today’s show, I’m talking about heart disease.
Ok, heart disease…Are you at risk? Why is it the leading cause of death in the US? And what can we do about it? Do you think diet has anything to do with it or perhaps being a couch potato? Or maybe it’s hereditary?
Well, let’s jump into this thing! Studies show 40% of all heart attacks are caused by elevated Homocysteine levels. And I hear the wheels turning. What is Homocysteine? Homocysteine is a toxic endogenous, sulphydryl-containing Amino Acid, yeah, yeah! Just know it’s a deadly toxic amino acid! And it does a whole lot more damage than just cause 40% of heart attacks. Elevated Homocysteine levels are associated with: Blood clots, high cholesterol, strokes, sickle-cell anemia, hearing problems, kidney stones, diabetic neuropathy, some types of cancer, Chronic Fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia patients usually have elevated homocysteine. It’s an underlying cause of Osteoporosis as well as Rheumatoid Arthritis.
And it gets worse…Elevated Homocysteine levels can cause Aggressiveness, Dementia, depression, memory impairment, Schizophrenia as well as contributing to Parkinson’s disease. And on top of it causes us to have an increased risk of Psoriasis.
Now, coming up next I’m going to talk about how those Homocysteine levels get high enough to cause those wretched problems, but first, take a look at this.
Yeah, what are you thinking??? What are you thinking when you eat those horrid foods that taste so good but they’re really like a stealth bomber coming in for the kill, literally.
Ok, what raises Homocysteine levels? Low levels of folic acid…are associated with high homocysteine levels. This is something I have to be aware of all the time, I tend to run low. I say after having eight kids they sucked it right out of me.
So, aside from kids and lack of folic acid what else raises homocysteine levels? Alcohol increases levels as well as tobacco smoke, so stay clear of bars if you don’t want to have a heart attack. And all of you that don’t drink and don’t smoke don’t start pointing fingers because I’m about to step on your toes as well. Any beverage that contains caffeine raises Homocysteine levels especially coffee…
Now, onto some others things to be aware of. Type 2 diabetes and hypothyroidism patients are at a greater risk of having elevated Homocysteine levels and therefore are at a greater risk for heart disease.
And the Big Dog – STRESS…Something we all deal with at different levels. So when you say stress is killing you, you’re right, it’s raising homocysteine levels and increasing your chance of heart problems by 40%.
So get free from the stress you’re dealing with, unless it’s a kid or something you just can’t get rid of, then do something so your body can deal with that stress! And lower those harmful homocysteine levels.
And when we come back, I’m going to tell you how.
OK, you have to eat, right? So let’s start there…what is a healthy heart meal? And what are some of the simple things you can add to your daily intake of foods that may save your life?!
*Wheat Grass alleviates some types of Heart Disease according to anecdotal reports and in case you didn’t know, some of us actually like to drink wheat grass.

*Another herb that absolutely heals the heart muscle is Hawthorne berry. studies do show Hawthorn dilates coronary Blood Vessels, improves blood circulation to the Heart, restores the Heart Muscle wall, increases Oxygen utilization by the Heart and protects the Heart from Hypoxia. Our chemist thinks so much of Hawthorn Berry, he talked us into adding it to our Body Oxygen. And that has been years ago.
